Amal Kothari is a Principal on the investment team at SYN Ventures. He joined SYN in June 2025. Prior to SYN, Amal was a Director at ISTARI, a Temasek-backed global cybersecurity platform, where he led or co-led $296m of investments in the cybersecurity sector globally.

Previously, Amal was a Vice President at Barclays Ventures, where he helped launch and scale the bank’s venture investing arm. He began his career in private equity at Creador and Olympus Capital in Asia, and as an analyst in Citi’s Investment Bank in Hong Kong.

Amal holds an MBA from the University of Oxford and a BS in business Administration and Economics from Babson College.
